Heating in Málaga: start with your home

What to review when choosing heating: how you use your home, insulation, emitters, controls and installation scope.

Start with the building

A year-round home and a holiday property can need different solutions. Before comparing equipment, review which rooms are used, at what times, their orientation, windows and insulation. Decide whether the brief covers heating alone or also cooling and domestic hot water.

Málaga’s climate is one input, but each property needs its own assessment. Conditions vary between floors, orientations and locations. Reviewing a poorly closing window or draught can be relevant alongside the heating installation.

Compare complete systems

Heat pumps, electric heaters and water-based systems have different requirements. A product name alone cannot settle the choice: the assessment needs to cover required capacity, available space, electrical supply, emitters and room controls.

When considering an air-source heat pump with radiators or underfloor heating, check the compatibility and operating conditions of the whole system. Existing emitters may be reusable, subject to the installation assessment.

Ask for a comparable quotation

Separate equipment, distribution, controls, associated building work, commissioning and maintenance. Ask what is included and who will handle any building, electrical or architectural work required.

Energy use and payback depend on the building, usage, tariffs and previous system. When reviewing a savings forecast, ask for its assumptions and comparison baseline; a general figure does not establish the outcome for your home.

What to bring to the first conversation

A plan, photographs of existing equipment and emitters, and an outline of your daily routine provide a useful starting point. Red Málaga can assess the building services and define its scope, coordinating the necessary work with the professionals involved.
